Differentiation of instruction is standard practice within our classrooms. In addition to the routine of a regular classroom, students in grades 3 – 5 may be eligible to participate in the Scholars’ Academy. Typically, students who should demonstrate a level of ability that would promote independence and self-guidance may qualify. This program is designed to offer students opportunities to extend their learning. Each week, students will attend sessions that promote acceleration and enrichment.
Membership (students in grades 6 – 8) in the Odyssey Academy is prestigious and reflects a strong and serious commitment on behalf of the student to attain high levels of scholarship. Students are invited to join the Odyssey Academy if they have an impressive academic standing, reflected by an average of 93 or better and outstanding character.
The Odyssey Academy is designed to engage and enrich the intellectual curiosity of the high-achieving students. The requirements for admission are 93 Grade Point Average (GPA) and three (3) teachers’ signatures on letter of recommendation.
Throughout the course of the academic year, teachers plan field trips that extend the learning objectives of the curriculum. Field trips are an extension of the classroom educational experience and increase student interest and learning.
